My Health Coaching Philosophy

Erin M. Norton Miller, Master Certified Health Coach

My health coaching philosophy is simple.  Give clients education, motivation, and support, and they will succeed in their endeavors.
The beauty of being a human being is that we are all unique.  While some similarities surely exist among us, we cannot expect that everyone learns in the same way, is motivated by the same tactics, or follows a specified timeline for implementing change.
As some of us are ready to dive into new ways of thinking and action head-first, others take a slower approach.  There is no wrong way, necessarily.
As a health coach, I have a deep personal interest in how the body, mind, and spirit all work.  More importantly, I am interested in how they work together.  We are complex beings with individual experiences and perspectives.  We need balance in life to feel and perform at our best.
While I have not always had the most healthy lifestyle and habits, I have had a long-time passion and curiosity about nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and mental & spiritual well-being.  I have personally battled some chronic health issues including migraine headaches, spinal and muscle pain, and several other conditions.  While I still struggle with these issues, I notice that, without doubt, when I take care of myself with proper, whole nutrition, regular exercise, and mindfulness techniques like deep breathing, I feel better!
Eventually, interest and curiosity grew into a drive to learn more, practice more, and into a desire to help others do the same.  I researched what would allow me to do this. I discovered Health Coaching and studied with the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute in order to become certified.  I took courses in and am able to serve families (including children), pregnant and nursing moms, and adults & seniors.
While the education and information I provide to clients is rooted in science, the language and conversations are easy to understand.  I empower clients to believe in themselves, implement changes, and support them along the way.  Change takes time, and I take a holistic approach to the client and needs of the individual.
